Smothered Meatballs That’ll Hug Your Soul

Ingredients For the Meatballs:
– 1 lb ground beef
– 1 egg
– 1/2 cup bread crumbs
– 1/2 packet Lipton Beefy Onion Soup Mix
– 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
– Adobo all-purpose seasoning (to taste)
– Onion powder (to taste)
– Garlic powder (to taste)
– Black pepper (to taste)
– Optional: A splash of milk for tenderness
For the Gravy:
– 2 tbsp flour
– Diced onion (about 1/4 cup)
– 1 tsp Better Than Bouillon (beef paste)
– 2 cups water or beef stock (add more if needed)
– 1/2 packet Lipton Beefy Onion Soup Mix
– Worcestershire sauce (a splash)
- 1-2 Tsp Browning
– Onion powder (to taste)
– Garlic powder (to taste)
– Salt and pepper (to taste)
And whatever you do, don’t overwork the meat. Mix just until combined, too much handling makes them tough, and we want soft, savory behavior only!
Instructions :
1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, 1/2 of the Lipton soup mix packet, Worcestershire, seasonings, and a splash of milk. Mix just until combined. don’t overwork it.
2. Roll into meatballs and sear in a hot skillet with a little oil until browned on all sides. Set them aside.
3. In the same skillet, sauté diced onions until softened. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
4. Slowly whisk in the water or beef stock.
If you’re using water, this is when you add a spoonful of Better Than Bouillon beef paste to bring in that deep, rich flavor.
• Then add the other 1/2 of the Lipton soup mix, Worcestershire, and seasonings.
• Stir in a few drops of browning sauce to deepen the color and boost that homemade flavor.
5. Let the gravy simmer and thicken to your desired consistency.
6. Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the gravy for 15–20 minutes until fully cooked and juicy.
7. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles and don’t be shy with that gravy!
